Literature Text

At first I was a schoolboy with socks up to the knees,
Ready to learn all my letters and how to say please.
I sat on the mat and I crossed my legs,
I rose my hand with a thought in my head.
When you're a schoolboy, life's simple, you see,
A bright spark in my eye, oh, that was me.

Then came the fighter, with a fire in my belly,
Without yet the consequences to carry,
I proved myself with my fists in the yard,
I figured my fighting would make me be hard.
But, a strap to the knuckles soon set me straight,
Before my brawling found a way out the school gate.

Next was the patriot, with a crest on my chest,
Absolutely convinced that my school was the best.
I sang all the songs, and prayed all the prayers,
Celebrated my team when I shed joyous tears.
These were the best days, simple, heartfelt and fun,
But joy always did seem to make the clock run.

Patience brought the scholar, my nose in a book,
No longer trying to dodge the headmaster's crook.
Head no more empty, but filled with up with thought,
And I gobbled up the wisdom that my teachers taught.
When I rose my hand it was to learn more, to know
A little more of the world than with my hand just in tow.

Last came the leader, the prefect, the top,
My turn now to watch the young ones' socks drop.
To push back into line those who stepped out of place,
To pass on the torch to the next runners of the race.
It was my recognition, my service was seen,
But, my service was over, my time here had been.

Now I am the old boy, the graduant strong,
Though never will I forget the lyrics of my childhood song.
The lessons I've learned here I'll carry in life,
And I'll do so with honour, through bliss and through strife.
The days may wear on, and your faces may fade,
But, those who stood with me I'll remember one day.

For you have all made me, each persona in chain,
And for that, thank you, brothers, I say.
My life at school.

Very nice. You should definitely do these more often. There are a few typos (me being the critic and all XP) but all in all, heartfelt, deep and deserving of a cookie. =D
